Culross is a picturesque West Fife village on the north of the River Forth, between Kincardine and High Valleyfield. Legend tells it was founded by St Serf in the Sixth Century, and was the birthplace of St Kentigern (St Mungo). Culross Abbey dates to 1217, and the port bustled with trade from the Netherlands in the 16th and 17th Centuries. Its cobbled streets and buildings from this period frame Culross like a snapshot in time, and Culross Abbey, Palace, Town House and other buildings are now preserved by the National Trust for Scotland, but the Royal Burgh is a modern community, and s1culross.com has been developed to allow residents share their news, views and opinions, make announcements, publicise events and show off their photos and videos.

25/5/2008The Abbey Coffee Shop

The Abbey Coffee Shop re-opens for the summer on Tuesday, 27th May and will be open from Tuesday to Friday each week from 10am to 1pm., in the Stephen Memorial Hall.

This project is in support of Culross Abbey Regeneration Trust (SCART). The Trust is managed by Trustees representing the church and has been set up to seek funds for the promotion of 13th century Culross Abbey and its historic provenance, as well as drawing funding from sources, we currently cannot access.

Our aim is to keep the Abbey open, so that future generations will share in the wonderful Christian Heritage we have been entrusted with and which we requre to hand on to them.

John Laird will be the contact at The Coffee Shop for anyone wishing to help, either by donations of baking or of their time.

Coffee, Tea, Scones, Cakes and Gifts will be on sale and we look forward to your visit.
