Summer Fete and Farmers Market
Although the day was grey, the wind was light and the rain stayed off until the last of the crowds had gone! Unusual weather for Culross and Torryburn Parish’s Fete, but it certainly brought the visitors in. Working together this year, the Parish and the Culross Development Trust put on a Grand Fete and Farmers Market, with a total of some 40 stalls. The range of items for sale ranged from the traditional home baking and jams to books and original paintings, and most people found something which they could not resist buying.
To sustain them in their bargain hunting they could sit in the marquee with a cup of tea and a cake, or sample a slice of roast hog or best beef, and finish off with some excellent local ice-cream.
Radio West Fife provided music and commentary, and Morris Commerie, the church organist played a selection of Scottish music.
A great many people from the communities of the parish were involved in making this happen, and the organisers wish to thank them most sincerely. Without these participants there would be no event. Overall the proceeds to the church from the day were in the region of £3,000.
