19/8/2008Culross and Torryburn Church Summer Fete: Lots of hard work and laughter earned us £2000
The Abbey Manse Gardens proved a very popular setting for the Church Fete, with stalls in front garden and in the cloister garden behind manse.
John Laird's entrance stall, selling cards & paintings relating to Abbey and its history was in support of Culross Abbey Regeneration Trust (SCART). The Trust is managed by Trustees representing the church and has been set up to seek funds for the promotion of 13th century Culross Abbey and its historic provenance.
Nelson's ice-cream proved a magnet for all ages and face painting, coconut shy and children's corner was placed on front lawn and also met with great success.
'Lotions & Potions' was the first stall through the cloister and it was an early sell-out with homebaking following, soon after.
Music was provided by Morris & Ian and all stalls did well and the sun shone down!
The money raised this year is in the region of £2000 and those who were unable to attend this year, can still take the opportunity to give a donation.
'Co-convenors David Wall & Rae Hunter pulled off a most worthwhile fete, especially with the last minute change of venue and all monies raised are very much appreciated', said kirk elder Ann Macdonald.
Heavy weather caused last-minute alternative venue for fete and we wish to thank Nixon Hire of Glasgow for refunding full charges for cancelled portaloos!
