Culross is a picturesque West Fife village on the north of the River Forth, between Kincardine and High Valleyfield. Legend tells it was founded by St Serf in the Sixth Century, and was the birthplace of St Kentigern (St Mungo). Culross Abbey dates to 1217, and the port bustled with trade from the Netherlands in the 16th and 17th Centuries. Its cobbled streets and buildings from this period frame Culross like a snapshot in time, and Culross Abbey, Palace, Town House and other buildings are now preserved by the National Trust for Scotland, but the Royal Burgh is a modern community, and s1culross.com has been developed to allow residents share their news, views and opinions, make announcements, publicise events and show off their photos and videos.

Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra

Culross Festival presents the Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra in a free Sunday afternoon concert on the Village Green.

We want to celebrate the fact that summer is around the corner and get everyone in the mood for the Festival in August. There's no entry fee, but donations will be welcome. The 4th of May concert starts at 2pm and will be around two hours long, with the acclaimed intergenerational group swinging through a magic mixture of music.

Ann Macdonald from the Festival Committee says we're hoping for good weather - last Sunday was just glorious - but come rain or shine, FYJO's jazz will get everyone in a sunny mood. There will be lots of canvas to keep the crowd dry!

The series of free Sunday afternoon concerts rings the start of the season that culminates in the festival and fair. Where will you be on Sunday? And do let us know if you go, we'd love to get feedback about what's cookin' in Culross.
