10/6/2009Culross Abbey welcomes Rev Scott as new minister
The Service of Induction for Rev. Scott in Culross Abbey was led by Rev. John Chalmers, Moderator of Dunfermline Presbytery.
Sermon was preached by The Very Rev. Dr. Andrew McLellan, before Presbytery Clerk, Rev. Elizabeth Kenny gave an account of the steps leading to Jayne's appointment.
There was a musical reflection by Carolyn Davis on flute and (Jayne's husband) Rev. Dr. Martin Scott on piano. The organist for the service was Morris Comerie.
Rev Scott said: "I am very much looking forward to getting to know everyone, and working for the development of the parish."
Jayne has over 20 years' experience as a minister, including times of training other ministers, working with community groups and developing theological education for those who don't want to be ordained, but who nevertheless want to study theology.
She has had the opportunity to see first-hand the importance of how faith can contribute to community development - in El Salvador, Kenya and other places.
Most recently she has been Chief Executive of Safe Space - a charity based in Dunfermline which provides support for people who have experienced sexual abuse.
She trained as a primary school teacher and enjoys working with children and adults towards nurturing healthy and creative relationships between generations.
Jayne is married to Martin and they have a son Malcolm and a daughter Kathryn.
- I remember Martin and Jayne when they lived and worked in the Washington area. Martin was a great song writer and guitarist as well as been able to play the piano. Lets not forget that he is also an excellant preacher. God speed to you both in Gods work of evangalism. db
